Technical Issues:

DARKSTAR® is a hybrid product designed to function on multiple operating systems in both Mac and PC environments. Computers vary and OS systems operate differently, therefore glitches may occur on some computer systems. DARKSTAR uses large Quicktime®-based media files and relies on the speed and power of your computer to process data. If a CPU gets taxed, graphics can be affected. Here are suggestions that will optimize your interactive experience.

  1. Make sure your PC meets minimum game specs.
PC: You must have Window XP, Vista, or Windows 7 operating systems installed on your PC with the minimum requirement of a 2 GHz Intel (or equivalent), 2GB of ram, 14 GB available hard drive space, and a DirectX 9 compatible video and sound card.
MAC: An OS X 10.4 or higher operating system must be installed on your Macintosh (older versions may work, but not optimally) and you’ll need an Intel 1.8 GHz machine, 2 GB of ram with 14 GB available hard drive space.
  2. Quit all other programs while playing.
  3. If a game freezes, simply “save” and reload (no need to quit). The issue should be resolved.
  4. If you experience poor overall performance, restart your computer and relaunch DARKSTAR.
  5. Be sure you have a current version of Quicktime® installed on your computer (a free download at Apple.com).
  6. If using a Mac that runs Windows in a virtual manner, use the Mac OS to play DARKSTAR for optimal results.
  7. Windows XP users only: To eliminate black flashes between movies launch QuickTime Player, then Edit - Preferences - QuickTime Preferences. Select the Advanced tab, and deselect both a. "Enable DirectDraw acceleration" and b. "Enable Direct3D video acceleration".

If patches become necessary they will be made available at darkstar.gs. We will maintain a troubleshooting log as issues are reported at darkstar.gs.
